How Ally says to do it
- Online: Its forms page says to submit a digital request to update your legal name on deposit and investment accounts by signing in to the app or ally.com and going to your profile.
- By mail: If you cannot sign in, its page says to call and request a paper form, then fill it out and send it in. The form lists mail and fax return addresses. The page says paper forms take longer than an online request.
Documents it mentions
- A copy of one document as proof of the name change: a signed Social Security card, a marriage certificate or license, a divorce decree, court documents with a seal or signature, a government or state issued ID, a driver's license, a U.S. passport or a naturalization certificate
- A wet-ink or digital signature on the form; it does not accept typed signatures
